As snow from Spring Winter Storm Toby hit parts of Kentucky and Indiana the accident reports came in. For example, Lex18 reported today that on March 21, 2018, Lexington Police responded to 24 non-injury accidents, 3 injury accidents, 14 motorist assists since midnight alone.
Thankfully most of these wrecks and crashes were mostly fender benders.
Accidents in snow and ice
The precipitation is still coming down and the temperature will dip to 24 degrees tonight. Even with Lexington road crews salting the roads many will still be icy. Pleasse stay off of the roads if you’re able to. If you must go out be sure to drive carefully and be on the lookout for wreckless drivers.
Kentucky has a law which states “An operator of a vehicle upon a highway shall not drive at a greater speed than is reasonable and prudent, having regard for the traffic and for the condition and use of the highway.” – KY § 189.390(2).
Unfortunately not everyone follows this law and drives faster than they can safely maneuver their vehicle. When that happens, people get hurt.
