A rear-end collision at a traffic light in east Lexington resulted in the death of one driver.
Lex18 reports that this crash happened on New Castle Road at around 11:45PM. Allegedly, the driver of an SUV struck the back of a vehicle waiting at a red traffic light.
Tragically, the force of this collision was so strong that the driver of the stopped vehicle was killed. First-responders say the driver and passenger in the SUV are expected survive their injuries.
Police believe speed was a factor, and the driver of the SUV was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.
What is Wrongful Death?
After a terrible crash like this, loved ones may file a wrongful death claim. This is generally the last thing on people’s minds. Unfortunately, it’s the first thing on an insurer’s mind. While people are devastated and focused on grieving, an insurer may be looking at ways to reduce their liability or even hoping that you never call them to begin with.
A wrongful death claim is filed on behalf of the deceased by family members when a death was the direct result of someone’s or some entity’s negligent actions, or failure to take action.
