There’s no word on the extent of the Ram driver’s injuries. Police are still investigating the primary cause of this crash.
The Basics On Trailer Laws In Kentucky
Every state has different regulations on what trailers are allowed on its roads. Before traveling with a trailer, it’s important to look up the laws for brakes, dimensions, hitches, lighting, etc. in whatever states you’re planning on traveling through.
In Kentucky, there are currently no laws specifying what brake system you need, but there are dimension laws that require trailers not to exceed the total length of 65 feet, a width of 8 feet, and a height of 13 feet 6 inches on most roads. Kentucky law also requires all trailer operators to have a safety chain, green and red lights that are visible at least 500 feet away, and recommends having either frame-mounted or equalizer hitches.
While the trailer may not have caused this accident, it is good to know some of the laws about trailers. You can read more about Kentucky’s and other state’s laws on this list put together by AAA.
