Rush-hour traffic around Lexington can be intense and dangerous, even on a holiday weekend. Drivers can have their thoughts on holiday gatherings or be checking a text on a cellphone and lose track of the vehicles in front of them.

They may not glance back at the road until it’s too late to brake to avoid a powerful collision. Drivers and passengers can suffer devastating injuries and face thousands of dollars in medical bills before they’ve even been allowed to fully heal.

Rear-End Collision in Lexington Injures Three Victims

A traffic accident in southwest Lexington Friday afternoon left three people seriously injured. WKYT-TV reports the accident happened around 5:15 p.m. along Harrodsburg Road near Old Schoolhouse Lane on November 26, 2021.

Lexington Police say the driver of a pickup truck going inbound on Harrodsburg rear-ended a car. The driver and passenger in the car were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Lexington Police crash reconstruction unit is investigating the circumstances that led up to the accident.

Earning Assistance for Victims After a Lexington Traffic Accident

Victims can face days or weeks in the hospital and many check-up visits to the doctor as they heal. Insurance companies for at-fault drivers may only want to pay for that first night in an emergency room and leave the victim’s family to cover the rest.

Don’t accept this sort of “bad faith” behavior from insurance adjusters. They should be held accountable for every cost of care now and any care needed in the years to come. Insurance companies must also be alerted that they’ll be responsible for the victims’ lost income at work while they’ve been unable to go into the office.

This financial support can seem like an obvious requirement after an accident, but insurance companies often fight to restrict the compensation they have to provide to the victims of their policyholders.
