Kaufman & Stigger, PLLC | Head-On Accident Dangers On Cane Run Road in Louisville KY - highway-gf72a737d2_1280

Drivers in Louisville should always be focused on the lanes ahead, but it’s hard to expect them to monitor the traffic in opposite lanes as well. An oncoming driver can make a small error and veer into the path of multiple cars before a careful driver even has a chance to react.

Head-on and sideswipe collisions are usually the end result. These powerful collisions multiply the force of impact by combining the speeds of the cars traveling in opposite directions. Drivers and passengers can suffer terrible injuries and even be at risk of losing their lives.

Victim Killed and Three Others Injured in Louisville Hit-And-Run Accident

One person was tragically killed and two others were hospitalized after a weekend hit-and-run accident in eastern Louisville. WAVE-TV reports the accident happened Sunday night on Cane Run Road near Darlene Drive on October 9, 2022.

Louisville Metro Police responded to the scene around 8 p.m. They determined that a driver traveling northbound veered into southbound traffic for an unknown reason. The car struck another car head-on.

The second car had three people inside. A rear passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other occupants had to be rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Investigators said the driver of the first car left the scene on foot. At last word, the hit-and-run suspect was still on the run. If you have information about the driver involved in this hit-and-run accident you are asked to call the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Support for Victims and Families After a Louisville Hit-And-Run Accident

Families who have lost a loved one in a Kentucky hit-and-run accident may wonder how to seek justice over such a tragedy. If a hit-and-run driver is found and arrested, a wrongful death claim can be filed against the driver’s auto insurance provider. This claim can ask for help with burial expenses and help in replacing the income the deceased can no longer provide close family members.

Victims injured in a hit-and-run accident can file a claim for damages against a suspect to secure money for hospital bills and assistance with the paychecks they lose while out of work. This civil claim can be filed even while the hit-and-run suspect faces a criminal trial. The two cases would be settled separately.

When a hit-and-run driver eludes justice, injured victims and their families may still hope for financial support. They can file a claim against the uninsured driver portion of their own car insurance coverage. When victims don’t have their own auto coverage, it’s possible they are covered by a family member’s insurance.
