Head-on collisions in Louisville can have terrible outcomes for any drivers and passengers involved. These dangerous impacts can carry double the force of any other crash because they factor in the speeds of both vehicles involved.
The Kentucky State Police documented the true tragedy that head-on collisions can leave in their wake. In 2019, in cases of deadly two-vehicle collisions, almost a third of them involved a head-on collision. These impacts can so easily end in tragedy. The intensity of the crash can cause severe injuries and even the loss of life.
One Killed, One Injured in a Louisville Head-On Collision
A man tragically lost his life in a collision Tuesday night in southwest Louisville. WDRB-TV reports the accident happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of the Dixie Highway and West Orell Road on March 9, 2021.
Louisville Metro Police say a 40-year-old man from Louisville was driving a car that veered into oncoming traffic in southbound lanes. His car struck a pick-up head-on.
The car’s driver died at the scene. The truck’s driver was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital with injuries. He is expected to survive. LMPD’s traffic unit continues to investigate the crash.
Support for Victims in Louisville Head-On Accidents
Victims can find themselves with a long recovery schedule ahead. And for those that don’t survive, families will be left behind to somehow move on with life without a loved one.
For surviving victims, the costs of recovery combined with the forfeiture of wages while missing work can quickly lead to a financial disaster. During these difficult weeks after a crash, an injured victim can file a claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance provider to try to earn compensation to help with medical care and to resume a normal life.
Families who lose a loved one to the mistake of another driver can also seek help in the wake of an accident. They can file a wrongful death claim against the responsible driver’s insurance coverage. This claim can help pay for funeral and burial services and emergency response invoices. It can also provide for the family in the years to come as they must go without the emotional and financial support of a lost loved one over their lives.
In all cases where insurance agents are involved, it’s important to have legal representation to protect victims and families from bad faith insurance practices. Insurance companies all operate the same way. They want to offer you as little support as possible to protect their bottom lines. A lawyer working on behalf of your family can make sure you aren’t robbed of help when you need it most.
