An intersection is a high-risk area for crashes and injuries. Roads naturally intersect with other roads which require some type of traffic control to keep vehicles from colliding. The vast majority of intersections in Kentucky are controlled with a stop sign while others have varying levels of signal-light control that attempt to keep cars apart.
However, no matter the system, it is only as good as those using it, and drivers are going to make mistakes. This means that sooner or later, someone is going to get injured trying to get through an intersection.
10 Injured in Intersection Crash in Louisville
A single crash can have wide-ranging consequences including the injury of a large number of people. In Louisville’s Russel Neighborhood, 10 people, including six minors, were injured in one crash at an intersection.
Police say that the accident happened when a Mitsubishi SUV traveling south on 26th Street crashed into a Saturn Passenger vehicle heading east on Chestnut. Witnesses say that the Saturn entered the intersection under a green light, and the SUV hit the Saturn.
Causes of Intersection Crashes
The at-fault driver is obligated under Kentucky Law to pay for all damages incurred by the victims of the crash. Because of this, it matters which driver is at fault.
At Kaufman & Stigger, PLLC, we’ve dedicated our careers helping injured victims receive compensation for their injuries. Some of the more common causes of intersection crashes are:
- Running Stop Sign/Red Light
- Distracted Driving
- Speeding
- Not Understanding the Signal Controls
- Impaired Driving
- Sleepy driving
- Improper U-Turn
- Illegal Left Turn
Intersection Crash Injuries
Intersection crashes can produce serious injuries that can sideline the victim for a long time. In addition to paying for hospital bills, victims often have to miss time from work, abstain from exercise and physical activity, and abdicate their family duties.
During this recovery period, victims often have a tough time paying the rent or mortgage, keeping the lights on, and generally make ends meet. The law says you are entitled to compensation for all financial losses reasonably related to the accident, and if you hire us, we can help you get that compensation so you can focus on getting healthier faster.
