When you’re walking around Harrodsburg or anywhere else in Mercer County, you have to be careful. But unfortunately, no matter how alert and careful you are, you’re always at-risk of being struck by someone driving. What makes things worse is when they’re being reckless. Speeding, trying to beat a red light, or even worse decisions can leave you facing serious injuries.

This is exactly what happened in a recent collision in Mercer County, according to a story from LEX18. Two people were injured when a driver collided with them as they were trying to cross an intersection in Harrodsburg on Saturday, September 27, 2025. The Harrodsburg Police Department (HPD) says the crash happened at the intersection of Lexington and College Streets. An initial investigation found that the driver ran a red light, collided with the two people in the crosswalk of the intersection, then fled the scene. Both were taken to a local hospital with injuries.

An investigation is still ongoing, with HPD asking for any information from witnesses. There’s currently no information given on the vehicle or driver.

What Information Can I Get If I’m Hit by a Driver that Leaves the Scene?

There’s very few situations that leave you feeling more helpless than a hit-and-run accident as a pedestrian. But even if the driver flees, there’s a few key pieces of information that you can try to get that will help a potential claim:

  • Details about the car – Start with what you remember about the car. Make note of the make, model, color, and year, and jot down any distinctive details like dents, scratches, or bumper stickers. Even a partial license plate or the direction the car was headed can make a difference.

  • Details about the driver – If you caught a glimpse of the driver, write down everything you can remember about them—gender, approximate age, hair color, clothing, or any unique features. Notice how they behaved too—did they seem panicked, calm, or possibly impaired?

  • Help from witnesses – Witnesses can be a huge help. Ask anyone nearby who saw the accident for their name and contact info, and take note of what they observed about the vehicle, the driver, and how the crash happened.

  • Scene details – The accident scene itself holds important clues. Take down the exact location, nearby streets or landmarks, road conditions, and traffic signals or crosswalks. Take pictures of any skid marks, debris, or damage to nearby property.

  • Tracking of your injuries – Document your injuries carefully. Keep track of medical treatment, take photos over time, and note how the accident has affected your daily life, work, and mobility.

  • Official reports or traffic footage – Finally, keep track of any supporting evidence, like traffic or security cameras that may have captured the accident. Save your police report or at least the report number.

The more detailed your information, the better your chances will be of locating the driver. Police can certainly help in this regard, but you also have the experience and resources of our Kentucky pedestrian accident lawyers to lean on also.
