Marshall was born and raised in Louisville. He earned a BS from University of Tennessee in 1975, and his law degree from University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in 1978.
Marshall has represented injured clients for over 44 years. He is the son of a lawyer who also is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Law.
Marshall graduated from the Brandeis School of Law in 1978. He has represented clients who had suffered serious injury or wrongful death of a family member in cases involving defective products, medical malpractice, automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, airplane crashes, electrocutions, construction accidents, and children injured in pedestrian crossing, bicycle, and dog bite accidents.
In 2001, Marshall was a founding member of this personal injury law firm. Since that time, he has continued to fight for his injured clients. His goal is to get every client fully compensated for harms and losses caused by the negligence of others. He has recovered millions of dollars for thousands of clients he has successfully represented in the last 44 years. He has had recoveries of $1,000,000 or more for clients injured in automobile, motorcycle, trucking, pedestrian, medical malpractice, electrocution, workplace and airplane crash cases. These cases have involved serious physical injury or wrongful death.
Marshall has been an AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell since 1999. This is the highest rating given by Martindale-Hubbell. This rating applies to both legal ability and ethics. He is a Kentucky Super Lawyer 2011 to 2023. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. NAOPIA, the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys, Inc recognized Marshall as a Top 10 Personal Injury Attorney in Kentucky. He is a member of the Louisville Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, and a member of the Kentucky Justice Association and the American Justice Association for over 42 years.
Marshall and his wife Denise have been married for 39 years. They are extremely proud of their three sons, Marshall, Jimmy and Matt. Marshall is thrilled that Jimmy and Matt graduated from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. Both have chosen to work with the personal injury law firm. The Kaufman’s welcomed three daughters-in-law to the family, Casey Dowell Kaufman, married to their son Marshall, Katrina Neubauer Kaufman, married to Jimmy, and Janna Miller Kaufman married to Matthew. When Marshall is not helping injured clients he likes to spend time with his growing family. This now includes six grandchildren and two dogs. He also enjoys watching and attending college football and basketball games, and fishing at the family lake house.s
