Highway travel in Kentucky can involve tight curves and steep grades and tempt drivers to travel faster than they should. Drivers can also be tempted to turn their focus to other things, like a cellphone or the scenery. These reckless choices can lead to a small mistake that can spark a devastating collision.
The Kentucky State Police document the dangers on state routes each year. In 2018, accidents on Kentucky State Highways accounted for over nine thousand injuries and caused a heartbreaking 330 deaths. Accidents on state routes made up around 34% of all the accidents occurring in Kentucky in 2018.
These tragedies affect not only the victims in vehicles but their families and their communities.

Securing Help for Accident Victims in Breathitt County
Victims in Kentucky accidents and their families don’t have to face the consequences of a tragedy alone. Kentucky law provides surviving victims the means to seek support for the extreme physical and financial recovery costs from an at-fault driver’s insurance representative.
Victims can also face the loss of income as they miss valuable work time while healing. These hardships can be compensated by filing a claim for damages. The insurance company receives a list of every cost the victim has endured since the accident and those expenses expected in the future. Insurance companies can try to reduce the amount they have to pay out, but a car accident attorney working for the victim can ensure insurance agents act fairly.
For the families who have lost a loved one, a wrongful death claim can be filed on behalf of every close relative. This claim can demand that an insurance provider cover burial expenses, emergency response fees, and help with estate settlement costs. The emotional and financial support the deceased will no longer be able to provide the family in the years to come can also factor into a settlement. An attorney filing this claim on behalf of the family will monitor dealings with insurance agents to force them to do what’s right.
