The driver stopped briefly, but left the scene without checking on the rider or calling the police.
Passing drivers later found the man in the ditch and called the CCSO. By the time authorities arrived, they pronounced the man dead at the scene. The next day, they confirmed the driver of the vehicle was the 54-year-old man and arrested him at his home. He was charged with driving without a license, no/expired registration, leaving the scene of an accident, and failing to render aid with death or serious physical injury.
