A car accident can happen at any time in Kentucky, and though it usually happens in more crowded areas, you’re still at risk even in less crowded areas. One man was killed and three others were injured in an afternoon accident on Sunday, April 28, 2024. This is according to a story from Fox 56, where two SUVs were involved in a collision on Paris Pike in Georgetown. The Georgetown Police Department (GPD) responded to the call around 5:00 p.m., where they concluded that the first SUV was traveling eastbound on Paris Pike when the other SUV pulled out in front of it.

The driver of the second SUV, a 60-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital and later died of his injuries. The driver and two passengers in the first SUV suffered minor injuries.

What Do You Need to Do If You’re in a Car Accident?

Every car accident is different, and has its own unique circumstances. What doesn’t change from accident to accident, though, is what you need to do if you’re in one. Better yet, this applies to virtually any type of accident you experience in Kentucky. So, if you find yourself in a golf cart accident in Kentucky, here’s what you should do:

  • Get to safety – Move your vehicle aside if possible to avoid traffic, and check for injuries. Call 911 so an ambulance can respond to the scene.
  • Seek medical aid – If necessary, accept medical care from arriving emergency services and follow up with a doctor or emergency room for further treatment.
  • Exchange insurance details – Share contact and insurance information with others involved.
  • Call the police – Contact the local police, especially if there are injuries, significant damage, or uncooperative parties.
  • Collect evidence – Use your phone to photograph the accident scene, including vehicle damage, injuries, and relevant road signs.
  • File a claim with your insurance – Report the accident to your insurance company to start the claims process.
  • Document damages – Keep records of expenses like medical bills, repair estimates, and insurance communications.

Unfortunately, car accidents like this one are common in Kentucky. While there’s no legal requirement for you to hire a lawyer if you’re in an accident, particularly if it’s minor and doesn’t require legal action, you have legal options.
