Generally, the more cars that are involved in a particular accident, the more spread out the damage is. Not surprisingly, multi-car accidents are usually worse in terms of the outcome, particularly in certain areas of Kentucky. Two people were killed and two children were injured in a multi-car accident on US-60 in Marion on Saturday, November 25, 2023. According to the story from LEX18, a 21-year-old woman was driving her Subaru Outback along US-60 when she crossed the center line and collided with the rear of a pickup truck and a Kia SUV head-on. The resulting accident left the woman dead, and was also fatal for the driver of the Kia SUV, a 59-year-old man. Both were transported to local hospitals where they later died of their injuries.
The two children that were injured in the accident were passengers in the Subaru and the Kia. The child in the Subaru was later flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN, while the passenger in the Kia was flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) is still conducting an investigation into the accident.
What Should You Do After a Multi-Vehicle Accident in Kentucky?
Regardless of where it happens, the moments after any vehicle crash in Kentucky are very important in terms of your legal options. While it’s not any different from your perspective as a victim, everything you need to do is multiplied by the number of people involved. So, make sure to do the following after a multi-vehicle accident in Kentucky:
- Get immediate medical attention
- Move to a safe location
- Report the accident to authorities
- Document the scene, including taking pictures and videos of any damage
- Swap contact and insurance information with everyone involved
- Don’t admit fault
Although any car accident poses the potential for serious injuries or fatalities, multi-vehicle accidents tend to have a higher statistical likelihood of these risks. This is primarily due to the involvement of more people and vehicles, often resulting in multiple points of impact and varying speeds. Consequently, the chances are elevated that a driver or passenger in one of the vehicles will sustain more severe injuries.
